Catblogging: Document Destruction 101

What is it about cats and their desire to be on things that are on top of other things? They can't just lie down on the floor - they have to be on the pair of pants that are on the floor. They can't just sit on the table - they have to be on the pile of papers on the table. As an experiment, Tom put a piece of printer paper on the soft afghan on top of the couch, just to see what the cats would do. He left to get groceries while I stayed home to study (and observe). He wasn't gone 45 seconds before Loki settled himself down on the paper. Hypothesis confirmed. Cats are wacky little critters.

That's hilarious (and a really cute picture). I practically have to make a sweep of my bed before I get in it just to make sure that there are no papers in it, so I don't know what that cat is thinking. :)

That's totally true. My one cat loves to sit on any kind of paper anywhere.

Random thought, but aren't we doing the same thing? We sit on chairs and couches, we lie in beds, we sit on the kitchen counters or the tables in classrooms....

MG! - I know. I don't see how it could possibly be comfortable.

MA - Paper, plastic, cardboard, you name it. ;)

Marcy - Sure, but when we sit on tables, we usually pick a spot of the table that's blank, not the exact place where there's a big pile of papers. Or if we sit on a bed on which dirty laundry is piled, we'll sit to the side of the laundry as opposed to on the laundry. Cats? Not so much.
