7 Month Belly

Here you go.

Kind of reminds me of something else I took a picture of this week.

Your Head A'splode

Sorry guys. This is about what my brain looks like right now. No updates until the moving is complete, probably. Baby's healthy, I'm healthy, everything's cool. I'm just mentally fried. Moving, thesis, work, blog...something's got to give, and since I already only barely update here any more than once a week, I may as well let this be the thing to toss on the backburner until the other stuff settles down. See y'all in a couple of weeks, hopefully.

Week 30

Or, as I've been calling it in my head, Week Holy-Crap-Only-Ten-Weeks-Left.

This boy's been active, let me tell you. Yesterday evening, I was almost convinced he'd somehow managed to invite a bunch of friends over (you know, hangin with his fetus peeps) for a raging party in my belly, complete with mosh pit. It just seems so unlikely that one little 3-ish pound dude could cause so much commotion in there.

I managed to locate my measuring tape, but it's only 39 inches long, and it doesn't even come close to wrapping all the way around my middle. Going to have to use a string and then measure it afterward, I suppose.

I've actually been up to more exciting things than just incubating this kid lately. I have photographs to post from our exceedingly successful fondue night. We turned in the security deposit on our new apartment yesterday, so we'll be starting to move stuff over this weekend (yay!). And if I don't finish my master's thesis in the next six weeks...well, I'm just going to have to finish it, and that's all there is to say about that. Never mind that work's been insane and promises to only get more so in the next 7.5 weeks, at which point I'll be going on maternity leave. Wow, I have to stop typing before I freak myself out. So much to do! Gah!

*deep breaths*

I'm going to write a few more paragraphs of the thesis, feed these cats and get to bed. Happily, we'll get to sleep in a little tomorrow, as it's doctor day. More belly measuring, heartbeat listening, super fun times. G'night. :)

All kinds of news

  • Just as we'd finally resigned to staying in our current (tiny, uninsulated, unshaded, un-air-conditioned, second-floor) apartment for another summer, we happened upon an opportunity too good to pass up. We found another one bedroom place that's about 50% larger than our current abode, well shaded, on the ground floor in a gated entrance building, with significantly more storage space than we've got now. And it's in the apartment complex right next door. So we're moving! Next door!

  • I'll write in more detail a little later about the enormously idiotic circumstances that nearly prevented us from getting said apartment.

  • We had to get up ridiculously early this morning so I could go take an extended glucose tolerance test at the hospital. Ultimately, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated, and I learned something valuable. The foul temper in which I find myself if I go too long without eating really is the result of low blood sugar. After consuming the special sugar drink they use for the test (100 grams of dextrose, bitchez!), I was in reasonably fine spirits by the time all was said and done, despite the fact that I hadn't eaten in about 14 hours. Which is quite the feat for a pregnant lady.

  • Remember my astonishment last week about the fact that I'd never had fondue, despite my extreme fondness for cheese? Well that will be remedied tonight, when we have a fondue feast over at Max's! I am excited. Yes, I will be bringing my camera.
