This trip was the first time that most of our family and friends back home got to meet Eleri. She's right at that age when some kids start developing separation anxiety and fear of strangers, but our little lass seems to be just as sociable as her brother. She was passed around and fawned over and all the while remained her usual, smiley self.
We really got a lot of bang for our buck as far as visiting went. Our first day on the west coast, we went to a reunion for the extended family on my dad's side, where my grandma and all of my various aunts, uncles & cousins were in attendance. It was actually the first time all of the cousins on that side of the family were in the same place since, oh, about 1988, I'm guessing?
And here we are at the party, all growed up.
On our way south from Seattle, we got to visit more friends and family. Then we spent a week in Grants Pass, letting our kids get some quality time in with Tom's family. It was pretty cool watching them interact with their cousins. They're all pretty close in age, which makes it more of a shame that we don't live nearer; it'd be neat if they could all grow up together.
No trip to GP would be complete without a visit to the horse farm. I got to ride, Soren got to sit on a tractor, and we all got to eat some grapes in the vineyard.
As vacations are wont to do, it all seemed to go by pretty quickly, and before long we were on our way back home. It was so great to see everyone, and I'm hopeful that we will be able to get back out that way again next Fall. :)
